Nanowrimo

I can feel it. The urge again. The candle that once burned so bright had dinner but had not flickered it entirely. This month, this harvest month, should hopefully see me reap the fields of my mind for at the very least a very shitty story. I have the idea, I have the concept. Now to pull the trigger.

See you soon little word count badge.

Happy Halloween

So tonight was interesting. Hanging out and drinking with folks from work is always a trip, especially the ridiculously hot C, but it made me think. Think about you dude. Although, to be fair, you have been in my dreams for awhile. With FB memories, you name constantly pops up Big A and it honestly really hurts sometimes. Like, you got me. I don't really post to FB anymore cuz I honestly posted for you. Somehow you always knew exactly the response I wanted and it would make my day. Being out tonight, talking to people and getting friendly just made me think of u more. The shower when I got home was really difficult because you just popped in my head and it really hurt. I miss you man. I miss hanging with you. I know, if some kind of afterlife exists, that you know this but you were well loved.

There's only like three people I really miss, and you are really up there. I mean, Bokat is up there but she's happy. Shes living a good life but you. You don't and I fucking hate it. I hate not being able to text you or see your quips on FB.  I miss you man. This is just one more little rant about it.

Maybe one day we will trade jokes again. Maybe.

Colorado

So the Colorado trip was insane! The start of it wasn't that neat. We left early Sunday afternoon, or I left. Burr had to hang back to work and was going to fly up to Colorado to link up with us later. I saddled up with my boss and his fiance in the his Charger and tore ass up north. We took a route through Benson, to New Mexico (podunk towns and Albuquerque included) that took us something like 12 hours before we ended up getting a hotel just a couple of hours outside of Denver. Of course, New Mexico is really only cool for fireworks so of course I picked some up. It's kind of like places that have gambling only instead of having slot machines everywhere there were controlled explosives. I didn't get too much but I did make sure to get the kind that are illegal here in Arizona. The drive wasn't too bad, lots of chatting and joking, but sitting in a car for that long is not conducive to a happy time. The first hotel was pretty nice, had a king size room to myself, but I was happy to be on the road again early the next morning.

At this time, Burr was flying overhead to meet us in Denver. Her flight technically was to Colorado Springs (which oddly was a further flight but a cheaper price) but she ducked out early. I guess it's a fairly common practice, bail on one of the legs of your flight, but is not recommended. Now, in Colorado it was getting into the swing of winter. That whole drive went from a hazy morning to full on snowy afternoon! It was pretty splendid as I haven't seen a snowfall that intense in quite some time. It was really good postcard material even taking pictures from inside the car. We picked her up without incident and made our way to the hotel we would be spending a couple of nights in just outside of Denver.

Now, Denver is a pretty sick place. It's the kind of town you can seriously get lost in and never run out of stuff to do. What was weird was that weed was pretty easy, but not so cheap, to find. I knew that recreational use is legal there but it is always a bit of culture shock. Of course we bought some, just some simple edibles in a gummy candy disguise. We spent most of the first day in Denver exploring restaurants, touristy shopping centers, a really neat outdoor mall (just a string of shops, eateries, dispensaries, theaters, etc.) and a train station full of interesting stuff. Everything there had such a different character. Here, in the desert, it's all sonoran. Cowboy shit, leather, lizards as far as the eye can see but there it was so much more metropolitan. Red brick buildings and industrial vibes interjected the streets with a character that's so rare here. The look and feel of the people too were so different as there clearly was a nice swatch of classes there. It was an interesting feast for the eyes and ears (heard quite a bit of European languages). That day was a snow covered trip.

The main event though obviously was the concert the next day. With some time to waste, we hit some hiking trails in the area we were going to see Queens play. Now, mind you, there was a pretty fresh snow that just happened and us desert lizards don't know how to scuttle well in that white stuff. Of course I was the only one prepared for the hike with my winter socks, waterproof hiking boots, light jacket, and light thermal shirt. Everyone else was rocking tennies and pretty light (basic) workout attire. The first ten minutes or so of the hike were nice as I was working as trailblazer as there literally was only untrodden snow! It was a fun little experience crunching and finding the original path in the snow dusted forest we were in. At one point, on a little down slope, there was a trail of predator and the prey it was tracking. Unfortunately the hike came to a sullen end as Burr took a little spill in the slushy snow. She was fine but it simply highlighted how unprepared we were for this environmental hike. We then trecked back to the car to go waterfall hunting. Funny enough, the best one we ended up finding was right off the highway outside of this quaint little mining town. Turns out a major run off worked it's way down the mountain side here and a water wheel was erected to catch the kinetic energy and get some gold panners there daily fix. It was a pleasant hike and sit by this little waterfall.

That concert though....holy shit. The venue (Red Rocks Amphitheater if you're interested) is a natural wonder. A near perfect amphitheater cut into a natural rock formation overlooking a city that was lit up but not so much as to distract from the stars. What was funny was that our seats were literally a 15 minute hike or so from the car, and I mean a hike. Like, a couple hundred feet climb up, mostly stairs but still! We got there a little late and missed most of Royal Blood's set, it was small though so not too much of a big deal, but we were nice and settled in for Queens. Man homey, them folks know how to put on some music. They came out strong with Feet Don't fail me Now and flexed on some old stuff and moved back into the new shit. They kept a really good flow with Josh stopping every so often to give a little chat to the crowd. Now obviously the events of Las Vegas had just happened so it got pretty emotional at moments. Josh kept it light though, even said that he would marry off some woman's unborn baby when the time came if she wanted, and the band just killed it! One of the best shows of my life as it is a band that I have been following for over a decade now.

I would totally recommend the Denver, Colorado area if you're looking for a dope ass place to get lost in. You don't even really need a plan either. You can literally through a rock and have a blast wherever it lands. I am planning another trip back just to soak it up more.

OH! Quick update on me. I'm going to CHINA!!! Yeah, I'll be working but it's still freaking CHINA. I am tempted to go to talk to the lady we used to work with a W-mart and get some tips from her. For some background, I will be going there to make a visit at one of the manufacturing plants of our hardware. That's about all I'm allowed to say publicly but I can say that it's gonna be dope. It will only be a couple of days really but it seems like such an interesting opportunity and actually is quite a burden of responsibility to put on my shoulders. I'll update when I'm back, as I know you're hype interested dear reader.

Well, that about does it. It's been nice to write on a good keyboard again. Using my phone to type these out makes it feel like I have typed way more than I actually have. Night, don't let them monsters bite.
